Remote meter reading and heat cost allocation
Read the meters remotely, bill the heat cost the same day.
NovuSoft reads heat, hot water, cold water and electricity meters in apartment buildings and residential sites — remotely over M-Bus, wM-Bus, RF, LoRaWAN and RS-485, or from a technician's phone in the field — and turns those indexes into unit cost allocation statements.
- Six reading paths: M-Bus, wM-Bus, RF, LoRaWAN, RS-485 and the field app
- Flow, power, temperature and error codes archived alongside the index
- Allocation compliant with Turkish heat cost regulation (26847)

What we do: meter reading
Six reading paths, one archive
The problem
Why does reading day take a whole week?
Nobody is home on reading day
Meters are read remotely over M-Bus and wireless protocols. No door knocking, no appointments, no second visit.
Indexes are typed into spreadsheets
Readings land directly in the panel. Where no infrastructure exists, the field app or an Excel template feeds the same billing engine.
A resident disputes the bill and you have no proof
Every reading keeps its source, timestamp and returned value. The unit statement carries the full calculation breakdown.
A meter fails and the period stalls
Unread meters are handled by a defined process: retry, line check, field task, fault work order — and regulation-compliant estimation so billing never waits.
Modules
Nine modules, one data model
Dashboard
Reading, modem and billing cards on one board; each user decides which card sits where.
Projects and loops
Loop is the container for reading: modem and converter definitions live on it, and its scope can be the whole project, a few blocks, selected units or individual meters.
Meters and reading
Choose the scope — everything, one modem, one block — or read a single meter on demand. Wired and wireless meters sit side by side.
Field tasks
The office assigns who reads what by when; the technician reads from a phone and the report lands back in the office when the round closes.
Faults and work orders
Photo-backed fault reports from the field; work orders pass through approval before the meter record changes.
Billing
A five-step wizard: scope, period, parameters, extra charges and estimation. Unfinished periods are kept as drafts.
Modem monitoring
Connection state, signal level, bus voltage, last seen time and connected meter count for every modem.
Notifications
When a period is closed the notification goes out on its own; a single report shows who was reached and through which channel.
Roles and permissions
Partner hierarchy is the data model itself — each account sees only its own projects, down to the field technician's task list.

NovuSoft cloud panel
You start the day the account opens. Servers, backups and updates are ours; you pay per use.
- No installation, live the same day
- Per-use pricing
- Maintenance and updates on us
Self-hosted, under your own brand
The software is installed on your servers and opens under your name. Data stays under your control and usage is unlimited.
- Data on your servers, clear accountability
- Panel with your brand and domain
- Unlimited users and meters
Selectable modules
Take what you need and add the field app, work orders or quote management later. You do not pay for modules you do not use, and your data stays where it is.
Regulatory compliance
Allocation the way the regulation defines it
Measured consumption and floor area
In central systems part of the heating cost is shared by measured consumption and the remainder by the usable area of each unit — 70/30 for central and 80/20 for district systems. The ratio is a project parameter.
Domestic hot water
Hot water costs are allocated entirely by measured consumption.
Minimum heating
Units heated by a central system are set to a minimum indoor temperature; units below it are charged a minimum heating ratio based on region and month.
Units that cannot be measured
Where equipment failure prevents measurement, either the unit's own previous comparable period or the consumption of comparable units in the same period is used.
Frequently asked questions
What people ask before deciding
Do we have to replace our existing meters?
No. Reading is based on the M-Bus protocol rather than any manufacturer's own software, so heat and water meters that produce standard telegrams are read regardless of brand. Your installed base stays where it is.
We have no modems. Can we still use NovuSoft?
Yes. The entire reading can be done through the mobile field app: the office assigns a task, the technician downloads the meter list and enters indexes on site. Barcode matching, instant validation and mandatory photos close the errors manual reading usually brings. The billing engine is identical to remote reading.
What data comes off a meter besides the index?
Whatever the telegram carries: current and due-date index, instantaneous flow and power, flow and return temperatures, temperature difference, operating and error hours, device error codes and battery status. These fields are archived and feed the analysis.
What happens when a meter cannot be read?
First the reading is retried for the unread meters only. If a whole loop is silent, the modem and the line are checked. If that does not resolve it, a field task is opened and, where the meter is genuinely faulty, a photo-backed fault report and work order follow. On the billing side, regulation-defined estimation is applied so the period closes on time.
Can a remotely read index be edited in the panel?
No, and this is deliberate: editing what the modem measured would falsify the measurement record. The way to correct it is to delete that record and enter a manual index in its place — and every reading keeps its source, whether remote, app, Excel or manual.
How often can meters be read?
Reading is not tied to the end of a billing period. Daily reading is standard and you can start a read from the panel at any moment. Once daily readings accumulate, consumption analysis and leak detection become possible.
